Groningen Confucius Institute and Fudan University Launch New Cooperation

The Groningen Confucius Institute (GCI) is pleased to announce a new cooperation with Fudan University (Shanghai), one of China’s most prestigious universities and a leading contributor to global Chinese language education. This partnership marks an important step in strengthening language and cultural dialogue between China and the Netherlands.

Fudan University’s International Confucius Institute Partnerships

Fudan University currently collaborates with seven Confucius Institutes worldwide, including: 

  • Confucius Institute in Auckland (University of Auckland) 
  • Confucius Institute Frankfurt 
  • Confucius Institute Hamburg (University of Hamburg)
  • Confucius Institute for Scotland (University of Edinburgh) 
  • Confucius Institute at the University of Nottingham 
  • Confucius Institute at the University of Sydney 
  • Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg 

Together, these institutes form a diverse international network offering high-quality Chinese language programmes, cultural activities, academic forums, and teacher training initiatives.

Groningen Confucius Institute Joins Fudan University’s Global Network

Against this backdrop, GCI is honoured to become a new partner within Fudan University’s global Confucius Institute network. The cooperation reflects shared values in education, openness, and intercultural understanding, while opening new opportunities to connect China and the Netherlands through language, knowledge, and people-to-people exchange.

Key Focus Areas of the Partnership

The partnership will focus on collaboration in Chinese language education, teacher development and cultural exchange. Planned initiatives may include joint course development, language summer and winter programmes and cultural activities for the wider northern Netherlands community.
